Mathew Hayden’s cyclonic innings ensured victory for CSK: DDD 185/6 (20.0 Ovs), CSK 190/5 (19.1 Ovs)

Chennai Super kings beat strong Delhi Devils with a cyclonic innings from ex Aussie opener Mathew Hayden. Chasing a big total of 186 runs from allocated 20 over Hayden was on the task right from the beginning. He smashed all Delhi bowlers and played a memorable and dashing innings of 93 runs from just 43 balls with 7 six and 9 boundaries. He took the game away from Devils. Suresh Raina made the finishing task with an innings of 49 run. Earlier, Virender Sehwag played another outstanding innings of 74 runs from just 38 balls. But he did not get good support from his fellow. But they still managed to score 185 runs from their allocated overs.

Delhi captain Dinesh Kartik said, the way Hayden was batting, he took the game away from us. 185 was a good score but the bowlers failed to win it for us. It would have gone either way if we had bowled well in the first 6 overs.

Chennai captain Suresh Raina said, Hayden, Murali played really well. It's not easy to bat with Hayden, you have to be on your toes always. Tough to play with Dhoni not in the playing eleven, hope he will be back soon. Our fielding was good, thanks to the fielding coach.

Man of the match Mathew Hayden said, Mongoose bat helped me and I have been practicing a lot of late. The bat has the same power as the normal one; you don't need to get the meat of the blade to deposit the ball over the ropes. This format is here to stay.

Photos of IPL Night

IPL is not only limited with its cricketing feature. It has been proved two years ago. It has also shown in the opening ceremony of 3rd Indian Premier League. Mumbai promised to be bigger and better than last year. Starting with a scintillating performance by international artiste Ali Campbell of the British reggae band UB40, who croon the all-time hit song, Can’t Help Falling In Love, the ageless Bjorn Again entertained audiences with Abba’s super hit Dancing Queen at the opening ceremony, which promises to be a visual spectacle as well.

A choreographed light show will announce the entry of Deepika Padukone, who promises to pack a punch along with 40 dancers on stage — giving serious competition to Katrina’s hip swaying with Akon last year — who performed to a medley of Gotta Feeling by Black Eyed Peas, Uff Teri Ada from Karthik Calling Karthik and Twist from Love Aaj Kal. Then the legendary Lionel Richie comes on stage, and, of course, R&B rapper Akon.

Says Sundar Raman, CEO, IPL, “The IPL weekend fever begun few days ago. But the real action was taken off on Thursday night in Mumbai. Lalit Modi, chairman and commissioner of the Indian Premier League (IPL), hosted a grand party at the Turf Ground in Mumbai.

The party began in the evening around 8 pm. Entry was by invitation only. The guest list included eminent people from Bollywood, socialites, corporate honchos, politicians, bureaucrats and cricketers. But the main attraction of the evening was the performances by the international artistes.”

Sundar elaborates, “Day 1 of the IPL tournament kicked off with an opening ceremony before the match, on Friday evening. It was a visually spectacular show. The opening ceremony began at 6.45 pm at the DY Patil Sports Stadium in Mumbai. After the match concludes, IPL officials and players proceed to a plush city hotel to attend the after-match party-cum-fashion show.”

We also heared that a lot of Delhi celebrities were planning to attend the opening ceremony. Said Delhi socialite Shaleen Jain, “I’m eagerly waiting to be there at the opening ceremony along with my friends to watch all the action live at the Mumbai ground.”

Chasing a mammoth total of 513 runs it was looking like all over for Bangladesh. But when this partnership continues to flourish and passed the 1st session of fifth day, there was a outside chance created for winning this match. English bowlers started to sweat by frustration. But Swann struck for English after the lunch with the wicket of Junaed. Stylish Mushfiq followed him very soon and the Fantasy comes the end. Then Sixer Naeem fought for sometimes with Shahadat with a nice blow of 36 run. Junaed scored 106 and Mushfiq scored 95 run for Bangladesh while Bangladeshi score ended up with 331. ‘Disappointing to lose in front of a fantastic crowd’- Shane Warne said after being lost with Daredevils

Delhi Daredevils beat Rajasthan Royals by 6 wickets in Indian Premier League 2010. Batting first Rajasthan royals lost wickets in regular intervals. But young Jhunjunwala made his best effort with his unbeaten fifty to reach the total on 141 from 20 over. Chasing a moderate total Delhi opener Virender Sehwag was too fantastic to play a tornado innings of 75 from just 34 balls. Daredevils chased the total from 17.1 over with 6 wickets remaining. Shane Warne said that, Disappointing to lose in front of a fantastic crowd. We got off to a good start but it all went backwards after 6 overs. If we don't win, then surely a lot of questions would be asked but we have to show some character and bounce back as quickly as we can. Viru is a wonderful player and he is one of my favourite batsman to watch except when he plays against us. Winning captain Gautam Gambhir said that, Viru's batting made things easy for us. read more in Dhaka News.

Quickest hundred of IPL

Mumbai Indians beats Rajasthan Royals by 4 runs in the heart breaking t20 cricket match of Indian Premier League 2010. Batting first, Mumbai scored 212/6 from their 20 over. Shourav Tiwary and Ambati Ryudu scored two quick fifty to reach that mammoth total while Sachin and Sanath gave a flying opening start for Mumbai. Chasing a big score of 213 Rajasthan Royals were never been to their task until 9th over and before Yousuf Pathan came into crease. Yousuf Pathan started to chase a required rate almost 14 runs per over. He just started to show some boundary and over boundary exhibition and made an exclusive hundred from just 37 balls. Unluckily he was run out while Mumbai were almost out of the match. But, Mumbai kept their heart alive to bring the match into them for a 4 run victory. It was IPL's quickest hundred from any batsman.

Rajasthan Captain Shane Warne said that, 'I am proud of the way the guys fought. Perhaps we gave away 20 extra runs but we can all be happy with the effort. Some guys are still finding their feet as they are coming out of hibernation but credit to the Mumbai Indians for holding their nerve. I have seen Sachin smash all of us over the park but in the last 21 years Yusuf's innings was perhaps the best I have ever seen.'  Read Sachin tendulkar's comments in Dhaka News

Coming into bat England lost 3 wickets in 68 runs at the afternoon. Danger man was picked up by part time left arm spinner Mehrab hossain Junior. The first test between Bangladesh and England will be taken place in 12 March. Bangladeshi cricket lovers are worried about the bad umpiring against Bangladesh. Bangladesh is being suffered by the bad umpiring decision for long time. Every time the confusing decision goes against the Bangladeshi players. Sakib Al Hasan was the last victim so far to be misjudged by the Bangladeshi Umpire Enamul Hoque Moni. He was given leg before wicket by a ball which was totally going outside off stump. Sakib Al Hasan was taking Bangladesh through to a position of winning the match. But after his departure, total match control goes to English team. So now it is time for ICC to think about this issue.
